Meet Orpheus

Our latest competition robot Orpheus, is the culmination of half a decade of innovation and learning from our Eurobot journey.

With its advanced movement system and intricate object manipulation, Orpheus emerged as a standout favorite at Eurobot 2025. After five qualification rounds, Orpheus led us to the finals for the first time. With an incredible showing, it eliminated prestigious teams from around the world, ultimately reaching the Grand Finals and securing second place for our team in the competition.

Orpheus, for the second year in a row, captured the attention of all the other teams and helped us win the ‘Team Prize’ award once again.

Hyperion Robotics is a volunteering and interdisciplinary student team of the University of Western Macedonia. It was founded by undergraduate students in 2014 and currently consists of 8 members and a mentor.

What We Do

Our team designs and develops autonomous robots that can achieve different tasks. We mainly participate in international competitions, with our goal for next year being the Eurobot 2026. Besides our competitive side, we also contribute to special research projects.

Where We Are

The team’s headquarters are located in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, at the new campus of ZEP, Kozani.

The Next Step

Our next goal is the participation in Eurobot 2026, the European contest taking place in La Roche-sur-Yon of France. The theme is called “Winter Is Coming”

Our Actions

Our mission

One of the team’s main goals is to showcase its projects internationally and excel in European and worldwide robotics competitions.

Special research projects are also discussed and developed in our lab, as a part of our university’s robotics research group.

Our ultimate goal is to promote robotics in Greece and abroad, by planning events for schools and universities, taking part in exhibitions and encouraging others to get involved.
